Unofficial Advanced Gravis Ultrasound Drivers #2 (Manley Drivers)
Copyright 1994 Robert J. Manley and Multi-Player Computer Adventures
Version 0.2a BETA - freely distributable.
FEATURES
- 8 or 16 bit wavefile playback
- mono or stereo
- volume control
- multi-session (many registered streams - one active)
- absolute lowest system overhead possible
- rigorous testing
Here is what it has been tested and known to work with:
- system sounds
- digital audio applet
- compact disc applet
- CD explorer
- bigben2
- dmplayer 1.0
- video player / Ultimotion (16-bit audio is nicer)
- wave doctor
- audio recorder (in playback mode)
- multimedia mahjongg
- GUSmixer (even while the device is in use!)
- play.cmd (thanks to TFS for reminding me about this one)
INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: This driver requires the MMPM CSD. If you do not have it
installed, the installation will fail (as it should) and not add anything
to your CONFIG.SYS. The MMPM CSD can be found at ftp-os2.cdrom.com in
/pub/os2/ibm/os2fixes as MMPMCS.DSK.
Unzip ultra02a.ZIP to a subdirectory or floppy. Run MINSTALL and select that
directory as source and then follow the directions. Note that MINSTALL will
modify your CONFIG.SYS to append the driver line. This shouldn't be a
problem as I have done it numerous times without a glitch. Also note that
the driver can be uninstalled by selecting the number of Ultrasounds to
install as zero.
NOTE: If you have installed Dennis Ernst's driver, you may have to re-install
MMPM from scratch and then re-apply the its CSD before installing this driver.
The recommended sequence for this is:
1. run dinstsnd.cmd in /MMOS2/INSTALL
2. remove all references to MMOS2 drivers and DLLs from CONFIG.SYS
3. shutdown
4. remove MMOS2 directory and all subdirectories
5. re-install MMPM
6. re-apply MMPM CSD
7. install the driver
8. enjoy
KNOWN BUGS OR PROBLEMS
